Apart from a couple of choice plants that I've kept back for myself, i'm selling everything. All plants are listed on Ebay and there are Abbey Brook, Schick, Billsdale and others. Some are rarer than others. All are on a buy it now, at cheaper prices (and larger plants!) than if you had bought them direct from the nursery.\r\n\r\nhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/coolsox2003uk/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562 http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=53 Re: Swapping cacti - by Rait 2011-09-29T05:33:42Z Rait Hi! My name is Rait and I live in Estonia. I'm beginner in collecting Echinopsis Schick hybrids. I include the list of varieties which pups I'm interested in ordering:\r\nArabesque, Coquette, Edwardian Lady, Lipstick, Monet, Princess Anne, Riptide, Sierra Skyline, Sleeping Beauty, Spring Symphony, The Hills of Home.\r\nI'm thankful for any information about these varieties (or other beauties) and opportunities to order these pups. NB! The first msg didn't seem to go through.\r\nRait http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=52 Re: Swapping cacti - by Rait 2011-09-29T05:25:24Z Rait Hi! My name is Rait and I live in Estonia. I have been interested in cacti for many years, however I haven't been great collector because of my travelling nature. However, I decided to collect some Echinopsis Schick hybrids - they are simple but some are trully beautiful. So, I'm 'beginner' with these plants but I would like to get some pups. I think that in EU there should be no problems in sending them. I include the list of varieties which I'm interested in:\r\nArabesque, Coquett http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=51 Re: Confirmation - by Morgan 2011-07-17T21:04:04Z Morgan I know there has been trouble with this tokens if you use another browser then internet explorer. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, but it's taken us ages to find a suitable greenhouse and at last it's up! We did get polycarbonate in the end, both for safety reasons and also the cost. Glass would have been too expensive. The polycarbonate seems to let lots of light in. The panels are held in place by plastic clip-in strips down the full length of each side. Many thanks to all who replied :-D http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=47 Re: Swapping cacti - by Cactus Jack 2011-06-13T18:55:17Z Cactus Jack I do not have very many to swap but would buy. :-D :?: http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=46 Re: Swapping cacti - by ryoushi 2011-05-18T21:28:03Z ryoushi From Europe to Europe there is no problem whatsoever. I agree about the swapping & selling, lets go for it\r\n\r\nDave http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=44 Re: Hybridizing? - by Eamonn 2011-05-10T21:30:44Z Eamonn I made my first crosses last year, with 18 producing seeds, of which 16 germinated two months ago, giving me about 500 seedlings. I didn't store the pollen, I simply crossed plants which were flowering at the same time and which looked like they would produce interesting offspring. I used tweezers to transfer the stamen to the mother plant. http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=43 Re: Growing from Seed - by Eamonn 2011-05-10T21:18:42Z Eamonn I smear the pulp+seeds on newspaper and let it dry. We should also talk about the challenges of International Shipping... There are a lot of myths as to the difficulty of mailing packages out of your Country to another Country. I have found this very easy to do... Also, with Morgan's blessings what about offering selected plants for sale??? As not everybody has plants to swap... http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=40 Re: GLASS VERSUS POLYCARBONATE GREENHOUSES - by Dave_S 2011-05-10T09:57:45Z Dave_S Hi Piprizzo44...Both my glasshouses are glass, but I think twin walled poly carb would be better, if you can I would suggest to go for something thicker than 4mm poly carb, the thicker the better the insulation. The 4mm is a little bit flimsy and iv'e read about it popping out in high winds.. :-( Just my two penneth....Good growing.......Dave http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=39 Re: GLASS VERSUS POLYCARBONATE GREENHOUSES - by Piprizzo44 2011-04-16T19:13:31Z Piprizzo44 Thanks very much Morgan. But I live in Sweden, I haven't even visited UK, so I can't say anything about your amount of sunlight. If you want to keep your plants in the greenhouse during winter, it's also a good insulation in polycarbonate, with less heating costs. http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=37 GLASS VERSUS POLYCARBONATE GREENHOUSES - by Piprizzo44 2011-04-14T20:54:05Z Piprizzo44 Hello Everyone\r\n\r\nI need to replace my aging little polytunnel with a greenhouse and am wondering whether to get glass or twin wall polycarbonate. I would prefer polycarbonate for safety reasons but as I live in Britain and we don't get too much sun at times, I don't know whether it would let enough light through for the cacti to flower.\r\n\r\nHoping someone can give me some advice.\r\n\r\n http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=36 Swapping cacti - by ryoushi 2011-03-16T20:46:16Z ryoushi Hello everyone, Having read morgans notice, I am indeed interested in swapping cacti, if anyone is interested. Now I've got a load of them and they are going really well. I am very happy to see a lot of buds already. \r\n\r\nI think that it is not so weird to see a rise in interest in this hobby since every new person will tell all their friends who may also help the cascade along. http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=34 echinopsis interest increasing? - by Morgan 2010-12-15T13:55:35Z Morgan Is the interest for echinopsis increasing? Nice tip about using salt. I was unsure how to store pollen correctly. I use small artists paint brushes sterilized after each use in isopropyl alcohol. The average annual temperature is 66.5 Degrees, July's average temperture 81.8 Degrees, January's average temperature 48.9 Degrees. Three nights a year it may go below 32 Degrees. Average annual rainfall is49.2" with an average annual hmidity of 70%. Lots of hot sunny days... Have found that the Tricocereus like more water than other cactus. I put the seeds with pulp in water to remove the sticky pulp and then dry the seeds on a towel.\r\nIf you have a good installation with bottom heat and artificial lights, you can sow before the winter, if not, just sow in spring.\r\nSome seeds need to be stored a while before sowing as they wouldn't germinate if sown too fresh.\r\nRegards,\r\nPieter http://echinopsis.eu/forum.php?c=message&id=7 Growing from Seed - by IanH 2010-06-30T12:15:37Z IanH Hi, this is the first year that I have made my own crosses and many plants are setting seed.
